Established Local Restaurateur to Open First Concept Outside the Loop
ESTABLISHED LOCAL RESTAURATEUR TO OPEN FIRST CONCEPT OUTSIDE THE LOOP
Lake Houston’s foodie scene growing at Generation Park’s Redemption Square with flagship restaurant
HOUSTON (July 12, 2018) – McCord Development, Inc., sole owner and developer of Generation Park, announces flagship restaurants opening at Redemption Square, Generation Park’s 52-acre mixed-use lifestyle district. Michael Collins, the name behind several popular establishments in the inner loop, including The Fish in midtown, will open Wholesome Kitchen and Wholesome Pies under the restaurant group name Wholesome Restaurant Group.
Wholesome Kitchen and Wholesome Pies are two new restaurant concepts sharing a large shaded patio space at 250 Assay Street, the mixed-use office building in Redemption Square. Divided on the inside by a sliding wall, the restaurants will be prominently featured in the building’s jewel box space, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass, and will occupy 7,677-square-feet.
“Choosing Generation Park as the location for our first restaurant concept outside of the 610 Loop was an easy decision,” said Michael Collins of Wholesome Restaurant Group. “There is such massive growth in the Lake Houston area and Generation Park is the development at the forefront. We want to be a part of that expansion by providing unique restaurants, in a comfortable environment, while serving quality food and beverages made with the best ingredients available.”
Wholesome Kitchen, designed to be Lake Houston’s go-to happy hour spot, the perfect choice for a girl’s night out, business lunches, or simply a great dinner or date night on any day of the week, will feature an all-organic seasonal menu, including gluten free and vegetarian options. Diners will be able to choose from entrees like grilled salmon, red snapper, steak, mushroom sliders, as well as healthy appetizers and seasonal salads.
The restaurant will have a modern, bright feel with marble and brass accents used throughout the restaurant. The restaurant will be able to seat up to 180 guests, with additional shared patio seating with Wholesome Pies, with seating for up to 72 guests.
Wholesome Pies, a wood-fired neighborhood pizzeria, will serve made-to-order thin crust Neapolitan pizzas. Similar to Wholesome Kitchen, Wholesome Pies will offer a seasonal menu using all organic ingredients. Wholesome Pies will be Lake Houston’s choice for family pizza night, happy hour with co-workers, birthday parties, post-game little league celebrations and everything in between. The restaurant will have a mix of community-table seating, individual tables and bar seating, where patrons can watch the pizza being made. The menu will include around 12 pizzas, including Margherita, Sausage and Fennel, Pancetta and Calabrian Chili, and a rotating selection of seasonal pizzas. The restaurant will seat up to 80 diners.
“We are proud to bring concepts like Wholesome Kitchen and Wholesome Pies to Redemption Square; two restaurants unlike anything else the Lake Houston area has to offer,” said Ian Adler, Director of Marketing at McCord Development. “Redemption Square at Generation Park is becoming Houston’s foodie-haven as we focus on bringing a mixture of local Houston talent to one area. Wholesome Kitchen and Wholesome Pies, along with Redemption Square’s first restaurant, Bibo’s Bistro & Bar, are paving the way to make this a reality.”
Other current tenants of 250 Assay St. include Bibo’s Bistro & Bar, BB&T Bank, the headquarters of McCord Development, Inc., Apache Industrial Services and Global Tubing LLC. Generation Park is also home to TechnipFMC’s 173-acre campus, Lone Star College, San Jacinto College, Stolt-Nielsen Limited’s future corporate campus and GHX Industrial’s headquarters and industrial facility at Lockwood Business Park, the development’s 25-acre industrial business park.
