The Ray
The Ray is the great connector of Generation Park West. This 4-mile looping pedestrian superhighway will link every district with limited interruption from vehicular traffic.
Every employee, resident, and visitor will be less than a 5-minute walk from The Ray which we believe will make people think…should I get in the car, or hop on The Ray? With the uninterrupted nature of this pathway, we are optimistic that most will choose the speed, convenience, and excitement of The Ray.
Locally, the most comparable trail is the wildly popular loop at Memorial Park. Now imagine a larger version of that, with multiple surface types, that connects to places you want to go. And with other trails and pathways connecting to The Ray, you can come from afar and still skip the car.
A vision for multi-modal transport
This forward-thinking vision for mobility at Generation Park will take shape in a series of phases. Phase 1, which is in development now, will consist of a 12-foot-wide paved trail marked with dashed lane dividers and lined with shade trees throughout. This path will be open to shared traffic where foot traffic and cyclists, and e-bikes can interact in comfort. In the future, as new foot traffic only phases are delivered, the paved path of the first phase will offer cyclists, e-bikes, and e-scooters priority.
Future phases will include an 8-foot-wide decomposed granite (DG) pathway for the exclusive use of people on foot. This surface is softer than pavement and ideal for runners and walkers. Additional phasing will see the addition of lighting to extend the hours of use, water fountains, benches, fitness stations, and The Light Ray, an ultra-light rail system
