Justin Turner of Bernie’s Burger Bus Fame to Lead New Hospitality Group at Generation Park
Award-Winning Chef to Bring New Concepts to Generation Park’s Redemption Square
HOUSTON, November 10, 2020 – McCord, the Houston-based strategic development company behind the master-planned project, Generation Park, announces the formation of Gastropub Productions (GP Productions), a restaurant and hospitality group, and the hiring of Justin Turner as Director of Culinary Hospitality, a newly created role. Turner, formerly of the Houston favorite, Bernie’s Burger Bus and a Food Network Chopped Champion, will bring multiple imaginative concepts to the 4,200-acre Lake Houston development.
“At McCord, we recognize the importance of creating an ecosystem that the community will enjoy for generations to come. Every development or design is driven by putting our tenants & the community first,” said President of McCord, Ryan McCord. “Creating hospitality and restaurant concepts that have the flexibility to change as the restaurant industry does is key in making these concepts succeed for generations to come. We’re honored to have Justin’s expertise and creativity on our team and look forward to what he will bring to our community.”
With the formation of GP Productions and the addition of Turner, McCord continues to expand its reach and expertise to new industries. As the past months have molded the way many approach dining and entertainment, McCord recognizes the importance of creating a food and hospitality environment that resonates with the community to build a lasting, memorable relationship.
“McCord’s vision for the future of Generation Park is unlike anything Houston has seen. The past few months have been challenging for the industry but I’m confident about the future of hospitality and what we’re creating at Generation Park,” said Turner. “I’m excited to craft new and intriguing culinary experiences for the city of Houston to enjoy in our first new, brick and mortar concept opening in Redemption Square next year.”
Prior to creating Bernie’s Burger Bus, Turner worked under the renowned Mississippi-based chef Miles McMath as Chef de Cuisine at Colonial Country Club and again as Sous Chef & Pastry Chef at Timbeaux’s on the Square, McMath’s upscale Cajun steakhouse. He’s also served as executive chef for the Chicago Bears, and former Houston Rocket, Shane Battier.
McCord also recently announced the hiring of Nick Cardwell as Vice President of Innovation and former Texas Medical Center Chief Operating Officer, Shawn Cloonan as General Counsel. The McCord team continues to expand with leadership that holds a variety of experiences, furthering the comprehensive approach and thoughtfulness of Generation Park.
